2004-2005, the Western Cape statistically had the most indecent assaults against children.  In 2007, Cape Town was found to be the most dangerous city for children under the age of 18 years, in the whole of South Africa. The main causes were gangsterism since Cape Town has a high gangster presence, but also alcohol abuse and the drugging of unsuspecting victims.

South Africa has the highest incidence of child rape. This is often embedded in the belief that raping a child will cure the rapist of AIDS.

Our children need to be protected. Families in the low socio-economic areas have the least access to resources and their children need it the most.
